Running a STEM fair is a huge undertaking to provide a good and safe experience for students and requires many short-term and long-term volunteers to make it happen. Without volunteers we could not run a STEM fair.
Volunteering at a STEM Fair is a great way to connect with young minds and encourage them in STEM fields. You can keep them asking questions. It also provides a great very structured community service opportunity for those who are interested in giving back on an annual basis.
Anyone at age 18 or older may volunteer at their local fairs. Chaperones, parents, teachers, siblings, and college students, YOU are ALL welcome to VOLUNTEER with the Terra Fairs.
We can provide community service hours certificates for college students to fulfill the community service requirements of their programs. Volunteering with us will give you a real-life experience in event management and communications. It will be a great resume builder.
Terra Fair Committees work with the leadership of their Director(s) and the support of Terra. Each Committee develops its own team structure. Typically, teams include at least Student Recruitment, Scientific Review Committee, Judge Recruitment, IT/Data, Awards, and PR. While team chairs attend regular Committee meetings, many team members simply coordinate their efforts with the team chair.
Other teams may be: Sponsors; Registrar; Volunteer; Feeder fair liaison; Grantwriting; Homeschoolers; MakerHallsm events; Training (teacher and/or student); Professional development; Site liaison; Information Desk; Info sessions (gatherings for parents and teachers on Fair Day); separate Special Awards and Awards Ceremony teams.
During Fair Week and on Fair Day, dozens of people join the fun! From verifying that each student and judge can still attend to chaperoning judging process and judging, and helping in data processing, it’s a busy week.
In order to register as a volunteer, please choose the Terra Fair in which you would like to serve as a volunteer and follow the registration link within that fair webpage. Each Fair location has its own registration link. If you have question and looking for the direct registration link, please send us an email at [email protected]
STEM professionals and college students in Terra Fairs counties can use Terra’s STEM Scholars program to arrange visits to classrooms and other venues during which they share their knowledge about and love for their field of work.
